People makes mistakes all the time. If you have the autocorrection thing turned on with your phone, it'll help you out but it also assumes the wrong words sometimes.
[ an hour later, ivy doesn't decide on an exact meeting spot until she gets there. considering that she's just as new as he is, she's still learning about the place, keen to be shown the sights than learning about them on her own.
dressed in green as promised, she tucks her hair behind her ears before sending another text. ]
[Newt gets a little distracted by the ocean, staring out at all that water. He's never seen a body of water before, only had the memory of the concept, and after seeing the endless desert that seemed to make up his world this was stunning. He's so focused on the water, in fact, that he forgets to look for a woman in a green dress until he gets her message. Glancing around, he finds the small stand that advertises these hot dogs. (Why would you be selling hot animals? It sounds sketchy.)
Walking closer, he thinks he finds her and smiles shyly.] Ivy?
[ she lets him have his moment when she thinks she's seen the person whose cuddlr she decided to swipe today. with her hands folded over her phone, over her dress, her once flirtatious smile fades into something more genuine and gentle. ]
Hi, Newt. [ she waves her hand, wiggling her fingers. ] You like the ocean?
[He takes a moment, because she's incredibly pretty, and he's still not totally used to being around girls. Though he's sure that he grew up around them, possibly several, he's only got memories of the three years he was stuck in the Glade with a bunch of other boys. After a second too long, he responds and points a thumb over his shoulder at the water.] Oh, yeah. Um, I've never seen an ocean before. You?
I have. My family went on vacation a bunch. [ never a big european vacation, though, because that is what this feels like. he's cute too, and she can tell that he might need another moment before she gets down to business. the phone conversation probably isn't as interesting as this. ]
You can take your time here, if you want. I mean, it's a lot to take in.
Seems like a good place for it. Is it safe to go in? [He probably sounds a bit like a child, but he has no idea if he knows how to swim or not. The likelihood is slim since the only time he'd seen water was in barrels, bottles, and occasionally taps or showers. This much water, even if he can smell the salt in it, it's fascinating and a smidge terrifying.]
S'alright, not like it'll disappear, yeah? [A pause. They don't have to stay on the beach, but that means he needs to think of something else to do.] Do you want to get some food nearby?
It's totally safe. There's a lifeguard and everything. [ wanting to be reassuring, she stretches an arm to point to a woman in a red swimsuit sitting atop the lifeguard stand, beneath a red umbrella. ] If you can't swim or if you're in trouble, they'll jump right in and help you out.
[He follows the line of her arm to spot the lifeguard, and even though the name is self-explanatory he appreciates when she gives a little description as well. If only he could get other people to teach him with such subtly.]
Great. Anything you recommend? I'm not really an expert on good food.
